Silence

"Stillness is indispensable in osteopathy for diagnosis and treatment." (Tom Esser)

Stillness

For the "old" osteopaths, stillness was important, and it became increasingly important towards the end of their lives.

Dr. Sutherland even had inscribed on his tombstone:

"Be still and know."

It seems he gave a final message to his students with this:

Stillness as the key to diagnosis and treatment in osteopathy.

Dr. Sutherland's master student was Dr. Rollin Becker, who dedicated an entire chapter in his last book to how to use stillness for diagnosis and treatment. He called stillness his "silent partner."

The book is titled "The Stillness of Life." A few years ago, Tom spoke with an osteopath who shadowed him in his practice before his death.

He told Tom that, from his perspective, Dr. Becker primarily worked with stillness. Tom Esser

"Stillness is the only thing that heals the world."
(Eckhart Tolle)

For Tom too, stillness has become increasingly important in his treatments and in his courses.

In addition to what he learned from his mentor Dr. Jealous, an important impulse comes from his monastery retreats in Suan Mokkh/Thailand, where he has been going regularly for 25 years.

For several years, there has been the course series "Be still and know 1+2," and recently Tom has been teaching a meditation course for adults "The Buddha within you" and for children "The Little Buddha."

A script for the meditation course "The Buddha within you" is available for 16.95 Euros.

Tom is pleased that several of his assistants have already been to Suan Mokkh. He sincerely thanks Sebastian Müller ("My Journey into Stillness") for his beautiful report.
